Milind Deora, chairman, India-Singapore Forum of Parliamentarians (ISFP) led a delegation of MPs and industrialists to Singapore this week in order to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations. Trade between India and Singapore grew by 40 per cent last year, preceded by 55 per cent the year before. The countries also cooperate extensively in the areas of defence and combating terrorism.
Including Mr. Deora, the ISFP delegation comprised six multi-party MPs named Suresh Prabhu from Shiv Sena, Mohamad Salim from the Left, Tathagata Satpathy from BJD, Alka Kshatriya from INC and Dushyant Singh from BJP. The MPs were accompanied by a business delegation led by Amit Mitra, secretary-general, FICCI. |
